Are there jellyfish on Sardinian beaches today?

Method, sources and limits

Jellyfish-free is not a place, it is a day
Lists of “jellyfish-free beaches” promise something that does not exist. Pelagia noctiluca — the only species that really matters in Sardinia — has no address: it hangs at the surface and lets the wind push it around. A beach that was full yesterday is empty tomorrow. And the other way round.
So the useful question is not “which beach is clear”, it is “where is the wind pushing right now”. That one has a fresh answer every morning, and it is exactly what the rose above is for.
Calm water is not the same as clear water
The common mistake: you look for the sheltered bay, find mirror-flat water — and swim straight into a swarm. Wind shelter and jellyfish drift are two different questions, even though the same wind decides both.
Flat water only means no waves are being built there. Whether the drifting mass is being pushed towards that coast or away from it is a separate matter. Check them separately: the swell on the beach page, the drift on the rose.
The three rules that matter
First: it collects to leeward. The coast the wind runs towards gets the patches. The coast it runs away from watches them leave.
Second: one day of wind moves little. The build-up on the lee coast peaks after roughly two steady days.
Third, and this is the one everyone misses: the calm afterwards is treacherous. In the first 24 to 48 hours after a long wind drops, the accumulated mass redistributes along the whole stretch of coast. A windless day after three days of mistral is not a good swimming day.
Which coast your beach is on
The rose colours stretches of coast, not individual beaches. You only need this mapping once — after that you just read the colour each morning.
North-west: La Pelosa. North-east: Cala Brandinchi, Lu Impostu, Capriccioli, Cala Coticcio. East: Cala Goloritzé, Cala Mariolu, Berchida, Oasi di Biderosa. South-east: Punta Molentis, Mari Pintau. South and south-west: Tuerredda, Su Giudeu, Porto Pino.
If your coast is to leeward today, driving to the other side of the island often costs less than a ruined afternoon. Sardinia is narrow: from San Teodoro to the west coast is under two hours.
Open headlands rather than closed bays
Given the choice: open headlands with current running past collect far less than closed bays, where whatever drifts in tends to stay.
If it does get you
Short version: no ammonia, no urine, no alcohol — they only irritate further. Rinse with seawater, not fresh water, lift off any tentacle remains carefully, then cool it. The sharp burning fades in 10 to 20 minutes.
